The most common cause of not being able to send email using your chosen email client are incorrectly set SMTP server settings.
To resolve this you would do the following:-
- Open up your email client and go to the settings page for your email account.
You can find the location of the account settings for your particular email client page by navigating to: https://blackmoonhosting.com/billing/index.php/knowledgebase/4/My-Email
- Open the Outgoing server settings or SMTP settings page and make the following adjustments:-
Setting name: | Entry: |
SMTP / Outgoing server name: |
mail.enteryourdomainnamehere i.e. if your domain name was blackmoonhosting.com you would enter mail.blackmoonhosting.com |
SMTP / Outgoing server authentication |
Ensure authentication is enabled. Provide your email address and password. |
SMTP / Outgoing server port number |
465 |
SMTP / Outgoing server encryption |
Ensure SSL is checked if your client asks for this. If you have selected TLS as your encryption method, this will not work. |
- Ensure that you save the changes. Depending on the client in use, there could be a delay of up to 5 minutes for SMTP authentication to complete.
