How do I block emails from a particular sender? Print

All email accounts are protected against spam using our automated SpamAssassin software.

However, in the unlikely event that a spam message reaches your inbox there are options to block the communication using bespoke Spam filters.

To setup a spam filter you would do the following:-

  • Go to https://www.blackmoonhosting.com and select the Client Login from the menu.
  • Under the Services & Billing heading select the green Manage button.
  • Login to your Services account by entering your email address and password. Select the Login button.
  • Select the Services menu and select My Services
  • In the Status column select the Active button next to the website address which you require control panel access.
  • Now select Login to cPanel OR select the Login to Siteworx control panel.
  • Now search for 'Filter' in the search box
  • If you wish to block a spam source for one particular email account select 'Email Filters' from the suggestions list.
  • Otherwise, if you wish to block a spam source for all of your email accounts, select 'Global Email Filters'

  • If requested, select the 'Manage Filters' option next to the email account that you wish to setup an email filter for.
  • Click the blue 'Create new filter' button.
  • Give the filter a name; this can be anything memorable to describe the filter.
  • In the Rules section, select the options that are most suitable.

Example 1: If you are receiving emails that contain an abusive subject, you would select 'Subject', then select 'Contains' and in the empty box you would type the offending subject word or phrase that you would like to filter.

Example 2: If you are receiving abusive emails from one email address, you would select 'From', then select 'Equals' followed by typing the offending email address in the empty box.

  • Using the Actions drop-down box, select the most appropriate course of action that should happen if your email filter detects the offending subject or email account. For this, we recommend simply selecting 'Discard'.
